چکیده
keywordS carbon dioxide injections, collagen, lipolysis, dermal regeneration abSTraCT Carbon dioxide therapy is an area of aesthetic practice that has been relatively under-researched, yet widely used. However, those studies that have examined this technique have demonstrated that it improves skin elasticity, circulation and the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, aids collagen repair, and destroys localised fatty deposits. It is a simple and cost-effective technique. This article reviews the literature available with regard to carboxytherapy and outlines the techniques of treatment.

Subcutaneous carboxytherapy injection for aesthetic improvement of scars.
She was treated with a process called carboxytherapy that resulted in great improvement of the scars with minimal to no discomfort or down time. Carbon Dioxide (CO2) therapy was first introduced in France for cutaneous use.1 CO2 is a non-toxic gas that is naturally produced by cells as they undergo the process of metabolism. As CO2 accumulates in the tissues it induces dilatation of capillaries...
متن کاملEffectiveness of carboxytherapy in the treatment of cellulite in healthy women: a pilot study
BACKGROUND Carbon dioxide therapy, better known as carboxytherapy, relates to percutaneous infusion of medical carbon dioxide with therapeutic approaches, and its use in the treatment of localized fat has demonstrated good results. Gynoid lipodystrophy, also known as cellulite, affects 80%-90% of women after puberty, especially in the buttocks and thighs. Its etiology is complex and involves mu...
متن کاملEnd-tidal Carbon Dioxide Measurements in Unintentional Non-Fire-Related Carbon Monoxide Poisoning
Background: Poisoning with carbon monoxide occurs occasionally worldwide, and the gold diagnostic standard is to measure carboxyhemoglobin level in the blood. This study investigated the correlation between carboxyhemoglobin and the end-tidal carbon dioxide levels in 50 patients with carbon monoxide poisoning. Methods: We recruited 50 volunteer patients who had been admitted to the Emergency S...
متن کاملAesthetic Depigmentation of Gingival Smoker's Melanosis Using Carbon Dioxide Lasers
Melanic pigmentation results from melanin produced by the melanocytes present in the basal layer of the oral epithelium. One of the most common causes of oral pigmentation is smoker melanosis, a condition associated with the melanocyte stimulation caused by cigarette smoke. This paper aims to illustrate the use of a carbon dioxide laser in the removal of the gingival melanic pigmentation for ae...
متن کاملUse of Carbon dioxide versus air blower in on-pump beating-heart coronary artery bypass surgery
Introduction: The use of carbon dioxide blower has been recognized as the standard of care in patients undergoing beating coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) due to higher solubility and lower risk of embolization. On the other hand, the compressed air blower has gone out of use since air can be easily trapped and is less soluble which can cause coronary embolism. The prese...
